JoBeth Williams made her film debut as Dustin Hoffman's surprised overnight guest in Kramer vs. Kramer and has since made more than twenty feature films, including Poltergeist, Poltergeist II, The Big Chill, Switch, Stir Crazy, American Dreamer, Wyatt Earp, Jungle to Jungle and the soon-to-be-released Fever Pitch, starring Drew Barrymore.

Her television credits include the lead in two series, Payne with John Laroquette, and the one-hour CBS series John Grisham's The Client. Her many television movies range from Adam and Baby M, both earning her Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, to My Name Is Bill W., with James Woods and James Garner, and, recently, Eudora Welty's The Ponder Heart for Masterpiece Theatre.

She began her acting career in theatre at Trinity Repertory Theatre. In New York, she starred in Moonchildren, Lady House Blues, A Couple of White Chicks and Gardenia, by John Guare. In regional theatres, she has starred in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the McCarter, Idiot's Delight with Stacy Keach at the Kennedy Center, Antony and Cleopatra at The Old Globe, and The Vagina Monologues in Los Angeles and San Francisco, among many others. In 2003, she starred in the world premiere of Marsha Norman's new play, Last Dance, off-Broadway.

Her directing career began with a short film starring Mercedes Rhuele and Annette O'Toole called On Hope, for which she was nominated for an Oscar®. She has since directed a movie for Showtime, Frankie and Hazel, starring Joan Plowright, as well as an episode of Night Visions for Fox.
