In the sequel to one of the most acclaimed movies in film history, Rocky
Balboa finds himself back in the ring again opposite Apollo Creed. At the
film's outset, Rocky (Sylvester Stallone), having sustained massive
injuries in his original bout with Creed, announces his retirement. He
decides to lead a quiet life with new wife, Adrian (Talia Shire).
Unfortunately, a run of extravagance soon puts a strain on their finances.
When he proves unsuited as a television pitchman, an embarrassed Rocky is
forced to work at a meat packing company with Adrian's brother, Paulie
(Burt Young) . When even this proves a dead end, Adrian, now pregnant,
tries to support them by returning to work in the pet shop. Meanwhile,
Apollo, angered by repeated taunts that his fight with Rocky was fixed, is
eager for a high-profile rematch to prove that the first match had been a
fluke. Adrian is against it, and doctors warn Rocky that another fight
could seriously damage his eyesight. But the ring calls him back, and the
"Italian Stallion" must prepare for the fight of his life. All key cast
members from Rocky return in this second installment of the saga,
again written by Sylvester Stallone, who also directed this time, and
featuring more music by Bill Conti, with songs by Sly's brother Frank
Stallone.
