Closed Captioning and DVS

What about closed captioning on TNT? I have seen video copies of some of the movies you air and when I watched them before, they had captioning. When I see them again on TNT, they are no longer captioned. This also happens with a lot of TV series that I know I watched originally in a captioned version. How do you choose what will and won't be captioned?

Please note that the programs that you can always count on being captioned on TNT are our original movies, our sporting events, specials and most episodes of our series. Turner Broadcasting Systems is committed to the provision of closed captioning for our hearing-impaired viewers. But given the number of movie and TV titles in our library, plus the number of titles we license from other companies and all the original programming we put on the air, you can see that this is not going to be a task that will be accomplished overnight. But we're trying our best to serve all of our hearing-impaired viewers! For more information, please visit the National Captioning Institute at http://www.ncicap.org/.

Do any of your programs include Descriptive Video Service (DVS) for the blind and visually impaired?

TNT now offers limited programming with DVS Tracks in prime time. Law & Order, TNT Original Movies, Network Television Premieres and Big Premieres are aired with DVS Audio. The TNT audience can hear the DVS Audio by selecting the SAP button on their TV remote (where available). For more information about DVS, please visit http://main.wgbh.org/wgbh/access/dvs/dvsinfo.html.

If your questions about TNT aren't answered in any of the above categories, we invite you to contact us at tnt@turner.com.
